"Make your wish come true"

It was a dream come true to welcome audiences back to our theatre after a year of live-streamed and outdoor productions and our next season promises to be one of our best yet. We all have wishes, it’s part of our innate instinct to cling to hope. This year we bring you three productions that find some of the theatre’s biggest and boldest characters disguising, conniving, and doing everything within their power to fulfill their greatest wishes. This season, Make Your Wish Come True, has something for the whole family. Love, laughter, mistaken identities, characters from classic literature, and memorable tunes. We hope to see you there!

When their wealthy half-brother cheats them of their fortune, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood are left penniless. They are forced to leave the comforts of Norland Park and relocate to chilly Barton Cottage in Devonshire, but when John Willoughby, a handsome stranger, arrives one day with a rain drenched Marianne in his arms, the sisters are convinced that their fortunes are changed forever. In Jessica Swale’s delightful adaptation of Austen’s dearly-loved classic, we follow the fortunes of Elinor and Marianne as they chase their dreams from Devonshire to London and back.

Oscar Wilde’s last and greatest play concentrates all his incredible wit and observation into a dazzling satire of Victorian attitudes. All the tricks of romantic comedy and farce are employed to present us with a portrait of the most absurd people we will ever meet – ourselves. Algernon Moncrieff is surprised to discover that his affluent friend -- whom he knows as "Ernest" -- is actually named Jack Worthing. Jack fabricated his alter ego in order to escape his country estate where he takes care of his charge, Cecily Cardew. Cecily believes that Ernest is Jack's wayward brother and is keen on his raffish lifestyle. Algernon, seeing an opportunity, assumes Ernest's identity and sneaks off to woo Cecily and hilarious and romantic complications ensue.

Can’t attend in person? Each performance of The Importance of Being Earnest will be live-streamed*.
